Siding Installation & Replacement in Royal Oak, MI

Royal Oak is an older, denser inner-ring suburb, and that shapes every siding job here: narrow lots, close neighbours and houses with more original architectural detail than the subdivisions further out.

Siding work in Royal Oak

Detail is the difference in Royal Oak. Many of these homes have trim, brackets and window surrounds worth keeping, and wrapping all of it flat in aluminium is the fastest way to make a characterful house look ordinary. We quote trim work as its own line so you can decide deliberately instead of by default.

3G Home Exteriors is family-owned and has operated out of Fraser since 2011. Royal Oak sits in Oakland County, which is inside the three-county area we cover every week, so a Royal Oak job is a short run for our crew rather than an out-of-area trip we have to schedule around.

Our siding work

Completed 3G projects from across Macomb and Oakland counties. At the inspection we can show you examples closer to your own street.

What we replace, and what we leave alone

Not every siding call ends in a full replacement. On a house where the panels are sound but the trim has failed, the honest answer is trim and soffit work, not a whole elevation. We inspect the wall behind the finish before quoting: house wrap, sheathing condition, window flashing and any staining that suggests water has been getting in for a while.

  • Full siding replacement — tear-off to the sheathing, repairs where needed, then new vinyl or fiber cement
  • Siding repair — cracked, loose or storm-damaged panels matched as closely as the original allows
  • Soffit, fascia and trim — often the real source of the problem, and checked against attic ventilation
  • Wrap and flashing corrections — the part nobody sees and the part that decides how long the new siding lasts

Vinyl or fiber cement for a Royal Oak home

Vinyl is the default for most of the houses we side, and for good reason: it handles Michigan freeze-thaw well, it is the better value on a straightforward elevation, and a good installer can make it look far better than its reputation. Fiber cement earns its premium on homes where the detail matters — deeper shadow lines, wider trim, a finish that holds paint.

We quote both when both make sense. Full detail on each is on our vinyl siding and trim page and our Hardie board siding page.

Siding is part of the exterior, not a separate job

Water that gets behind siding usually did not start at the siding. It started at a roof edge, a gutter that overflows, or a downspout that dumps against the wall. We quote the whole water path because fixing one part and ignoring the rest is how the same problem comes back in three years.

Questions we get from Royal Oak homeowners

Will siding ruin the character of my house?

It can, if the trim gets wrapped flat to save time. Keeping profile in the trim costs more labour and is worth it on a house that has any architectural interest.

The lots are tight here. Can you still work?

Yes. It affects staging and sometimes the order we do elevations. We plan it on the inspection rather than discovering it on day one.

Do I need a permit?

Requirements vary by municipality and scope. We tell you what we believe is needed for your job, and you confirm with the city before we start.

Serving Royal Oak and nearby

Great experience with Jamie and his crew for gutter replacement. Jamie gave a no nonsense quote, very straight forward. He scheduled me and got the crew out within a week. They finsihed in a few hours. I paid the final invoice. Done! Previously, I had requested four quotes from four different contractors. 3G was the cheapest and most qualified in my opinion. It's ridiculous the amount of nonsense other contractors display not knowing I'm a woman with 13 years in construction. I always play dumb, because I want to see who NOT to hire. Jamie treated me fairly and with respect from the start. He gave an appropriate price, clear terms, and provided his license and insurance without hesitation. Wonderful experience and I will be calling 3G back for my garage siding project. Very pleased with their work and professionalism.

Windy weather bent the aluminum siding on the peaks of our home. 3G came out and fixed it like new. Friendly people and easy to work with.

In Troy, MI, I hired 3G to install gutter guards and additional downspouts. In addition to a job well done I was most impressed with their excellent customer service, responsiveness and timeliness.

3G was excellent to work with. They kept appointment times, did everything they promised. We love our new micro mesh gutter guards. No more water overflowing onto our porch. No more locust leaves or seeds to clean. Best of all, no more climbing on the roof. Would highly recommend.

Jamie was very pleasant individual to speak with and made sure to call to update me on any details. The roofing itself is amazing, the group that was here did a great job with clean up and taking off the old roof. No more leaking in my backroom!!!
