Exterior contractor in Sterling Heights, MI
Sterling Heights was built quickly and in blocks. Whole subdivisions went up inside a few seasons using the same builders and the same materials, and that is why exteriors here tend to reach the end of their life street by street rather than house by house.
We work out of Fraser, a few miles south, and Sterling Heights is inside the area our crews cover every week.
Why your neighbours are all getting quotes at once
If three houses on your street have had work this year, it is not a coincidence and it is not a door-knocking campaign. Roofs installed in the same season, gutters hung on the same day and siding fitted from the same pallet arrive at the same point together.
That is useful information rather than pressure. It means a neighbour who has already had the work done can tell you what they found underneath, and it means we usually know what to expect on your house before we are on the roof.
What we do in Sterling Heights
- Roofing — roofing in Sterling Heights · residential roofing · repairs · storm damage
- Siding, soffit and fascia — siding in Sterling Heights · vinyl · fiber cement
- Seamless gutters — gutters in Sterling Heights · seamless gutters · leaf protection · copper
- Everything else on the outside — drainage, windows, painting, masonry, decks, additions and commercial roofing
One exterior, quoted as one thing
On a standard Sterling Heights colonial the roof, the gutters and the siding are all the same age. Replacing them one at a time over five years costs more than doing the ones that are due together, because each visit carries its own set-up, its own staging and its own dumpster.
It also produces worse detailing. New gutter on old fascia, or new siding finishing into twenty-year-old trim, is how a house ends up with a new-looking exterior and the same old leaks.
What we do on the first visit
We inspect the whole envelope, including the attic where a roof is involved, and we tell you which parts are actually due. On a lot of houses here the honest answer is that one element needs doing now and the rest has years left, and we would rather say so than sell a package.
The scope comes back in writing and itemised, with a unit price for anything that might turn up once the work is open. Nothing gets added mid-job without a conversation first.
What we find on a typical subdivision house
The housing here is consistent enough that the findings are too. In rough order of how often they come up:
- Builder-grade three-tab shingle at or past its service life, usually with the south slope noticeably worse than the north.
- Undersized gutter for the roof area, overflowing at the same corner in every heavy rain.
- Thin original vinyl, badly faded on the south and west walls and often cracked where a ladder has been leant against it.
- Missing kick-out flashing where a garage or porch roof runs into a wall. One of the most common defects in this housing stock and a common cause of hidden water damage.
- Attic ventilation that was never adequate, which shortens the life of everything above it.
Questions from Sterling Heights homeowners
Someone knocked on my door after the last storm. Should I use them?
Get a second opinion from someone with a local address before you sign anything. We are a family business working out of Fraser and we will be here next year. Ask anyone at your door the same question and see what the answer is.
My neighbour had their roof done and found rotten decking. Will mine be the same?
Possibly, since the houses are the same age and build. It is not a certainty, which is why the estimate includes a unit price for deck replacement rather than an assumption either way.
Can you do the roof now and the siding later?
Yes, and often that is the right order. If both are due, doing them together is cheaper. If only the roof is due, we will say so and the siding can wait until it genuinely needs doing.
Do you offer financing?
There are financing options and we can walk you through what is available on our financing page. We would rather you understood the terms than signed something in a driveway.
