Most communities around here sit somewhere along the Clinton River. Clinton Township is where it comes into existence: the river is formed from three separate branches inside the township line, then runs east through Harrison Township to Lake St. Clair. That is why the storm system here works harder in a heavy rain than one in a township the river merely passes through, and why downspout discharge deserves a real answer on these lots. The township covers 28.4 square miles about twenty-two miles northeast of downtown Detroit, and its drains fall under the Macomb County Public Works Commissioner.
This is the most populous township in Michigan — 100,513 people in 2020, up from 95,648 in 2000, about five per cent in twenty years. It was substantially built out by 2000, and it got there in layers. Settled in 1782 and organised in 1818 as Huron Township before taking the Clinton name in 1824, it still carries the older names: Moravian Drive is its oldest road, Cady in the southwest dates to 1833, and Broad Acres sits in the southeast along Gratiot.
So there is no such thing as “the Clinton Township house.” Near the old Gratiot and Moravian corridors you find pre-war and 1950s homes with narrow gutter, original wood fascia and, often, downspouts once tied into a clay line to the street that were long ago cut off and left to discharge at the wall. Through the middle, 1960s to 80s subdivision ranches and colonials with five-inch systems and too few outlets. Toward the edges, 1990s two-storey product with taller eaves and more complex massing.
Three different jobs. On a pre-war house near Moravian the conversation starts with the fascia and the buried line. On a 1970s ranch it starts with outlet count. On a 1990s colonial it starts with capacity, because a tall house sheds fast and much builder gutter was hung at minimum size. Anybody quoting one package across all three has not looked at the house.
The township’s Building Permits page explicitly lists re-roofing as a minor residential project that requires a permit, and for minor residential work asks for an application, two sets of drawings with a wall section indicating the proposed construction, and two copies of a plot plan or mortgage survey showing all structures on the property. Payment is by cash or check made out to the Clinton Township Treasurer. It also publishes a standalone Re-roof Permit Application — a form for that job alone — with the Building Department at 40700 Romeo Plank Rd. Very few local governments here go to that trouble. Requirements and fees change, so we confirm the current position and pull the permit ourselves rather than handing you a form.

Formed on site to the run. On older houses near the Gratiot and Moravian corridors, swapping narrow sectional gutter for a properly sized seamless run is the biggest improvement available.
Full replacement where the system is undersized, sagging or rusted through. We quote from what is on the house, not a standard package.
Re-pitching, resealed corners, new hangers and added outlets. One added downspout often solves a problem blamed on leaves for years.
Five inch suits the older and mid-era stock; six inch with a 3×4 downspout earns its place on the taller 1990s houses at the edges.
Worth it under mature growth along the older corridors, often not on the newer subdivisions. We look before recommending.
On pre-war and 1950s houses the original wood fascia is frequently the real problem. We replace board, wrap fascia and fit vented soffit.
The service this township needs most. Buried solid pipe to a pop-up emitter — and on older houses, dealing properly with a collapsed original line.
Because Clinton Township grew in waves, the gutter answer here is rarely the same twice. How we size a run against the actual roof is set out on our gutter installation and replacement page.

We establish the era of the house, measure the runs, check fascia by hand, and trace where each downspout sends its water — including whether an old buried line still works.

Footage, size, hanger spacing, downspouts, fascia work and drainage — approved before material is ordered.

Where your scope needs a permit we pull it with the Building Department on Romeo Plank Rd, using the township’s own forms.

Old gutter down, rotted board replaced, runs formed on site and hung to a consistent pitch, drainage connected.
We do the rest of the envelope in house — useful in a township with this much variety in housing age.

Our shop is at 31097 Fraser Dr, on the township’s southwest doorstep — family-run since 2011.

A pre-war home off Moravian and a 1990s colonial on the edge need different systems. We price what is in front of us.
In the township where three branches make the Clinton River, where the downspout ends is not an afterthought.
The township publishes its own re-roof application. We pull permits with the Building Department rather than leaving the form with you.
Every line itemized, including fascia repair, so quotes can be compared properly.

Great experience with Jamie and his crew for gutter replacement. Jamie gave a no nonsense quote, very straight forward. He scheduled me and got the crew out within a week. They finsihed in a few hours. I paid the final invoice. Done! Previously, I had requested four quotes from four different contractors. 3G was the cheapest and most qualified in my opinion. It's ridiculous the amount of nonsense other contractors display not knowing I'm a woman with 13 years in construction. I always play dumb, because I want to see who NOT to hire. Jamie treated me fairly and with respect from the start. He gave an appropriate price, clear terms, and provided his license and insurance without hesitation. Wonderful experience and I will be calling 3G back for my garage siding project. Very pleased with their work and professionalism.Posted on Google

3G was excellent to work with. They kept appointment times, did everything they promised. We love our new micro mesh gutter guards. No more water overflowing onto our porch. No more locust leaves or seeds to clean. Best of all, no more climbing on the roof. Would highly recommend.Posted on Google

Jamie was very pleasant individual to speak with and made sure to call to update me on any details. The roofing itself is amazing, the group that was here did a great job with clean up and taking off the old roof. No more leaking in my backroom!!!
The township wraps around Fraser’s north and east sides, so we are on most Clinton Township streets within fifteen minutes.
Most people with a Clarkston mailing address are in Independence Township. The City of the Village of Clarkston is a separate government of 928 people on 0.44 square miles, entirely surrounded by the township — the smallest city by land area in Michigan. If your house is outside those few blocks, the township is your local government even though your mail says Clarkston. We confirm which one applies before any work that involves the building department.
Below the house and away from the break in slope, in buried pipe. Released above a walkout or at the top of a bank, roof water will cut its own route within a season. Each elevation gets its own answer, because the fall is different on each side.
It can. The village was designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1976 and listed on the National Register in 1979, across nine streets. What review applies to a specific exterior change is a question for the city itself, and we ask them before we start rather than assuming. On appearance we work to match the existing profile and detail.
Yes. Half-round and traditional profiles sit far better against original trim than a modern K-style section does, and on a house with period detail that difference is visible from the street. We spec the profile as part of the design, not as a late upgrade.
Ice dams are driven by heat escaping into the attic, which melts snow that then refreezes at the cold eave. Oakland County’s code figure is 25 psf of ground snow load, and GLISA puts freeze-thaw cycling in this region at roughly 42 a year, so the raw material is always present. Gutters and guards neither cause nor cure it — air sealing, insulation and balanced ventilation do.
Where a scope requires a permit, we pull it with whichever authority your property actually falls under, which is one more reason the village-or-township question gets settled first. Requirements and fees are set locally and change, so we confirm the current position rather than repeat something from a web page.
Because free-draining ground removes the evidence, not the problem. On this terrain water disappears fast enough that an overflowing trough never leaves a puddle, so the first sign is a soft fascia board or a stained header above a window. We look for the overflow line rather than for standing water.
We measure the runs, work out what each one is carrying, check the fascia, walk the slope and hand you an itemized written scope. If the honest answer is a repair and one more outlet, that is what it will say.
